PRIVACY AT DNAOBS

Personal by nature.
Your choices, clearly.

Your DNA tells a personal story. Here is what happens to the files you upload, the reports you save, and the choices you can make along the way.

Privacy & data use · Updated September 9, 2026
Consent comes firstReview your processing choice in your account.
01 / FROM UPLOAD TO INSIGHT

A clear path for your data.

DNAObs interprets existing DNA exports. We do not collect biological samples, and the results are educational—not a medical diagnosis.

01

You choose the file

Upload a supported DNA export you are entitled to use. Your browser checks compatibility before handing it to the analysis flow.

02

You consent to analysis

DNAObs servers process your upload to produce the educational genetic analyses you request. This is not a browser-only service.

03

Your report stays with you

Saved findings are linked to your account. Sign back in to open your reports and return to your selected analysis.

04

You manage what stays

Review consent, download account data, delete a saved report, or request account deletion through your workspace.

02 / DIFFERENT DATA, DIFFERENT LIFETIMES

An upload is temporary.
A saved report is different.

Deleting a working file and deleting a saved report are separate actions. Here is how retention works in the current service.

Browser handoff: 1 hour

The temporary upload handoff expires after one hour. Keep your own copy of the original file; this handoff is not a file archive.

DURING PROCESSING

Working files & queued jobs

Working files are cleaned up after processing. Geographic jobs clear raw upload bytes when completed, failed, or cancelled. Interrupted jobs older than 24 hours are cleaned up when workers are available.

IN YOUR ACCOUNT

Saved reports: until deleted

Saved genetic findings stay linked to your account until you delete the report or account. Withdrawing processing consent does not automatically delete these reports.

Infrastructure backups and payment-provider records have separate lifecycles. Contact support about those copies and their retention. This notice does not promise immediate erasure from every system.

03 / YOUR WORKSPACE, YOUR CHOICES

Privacy you can act on.

These links take you to the controls in your DNAObs account. You will need to sign in to manage private information.

Review your consent

Allow or stop new DNA processing. Withdrawing consent does not erase reports you already saved.

04 / THE DETAILS

What the service uses.

A practical explanation of account data, service providers, and website technology.

Ask a privacy question
Account information & genetic findings

Account details support sign-in, analysis access, account messages, and support. DNA uploads contain genetic markers used by the requested analysis services. Saved reports can contain ancestry estimates, lineage findings, trait observations, and variant annotations.

These findings are sensitive. Report pages require account authorization; a private URL alone does not grant access.

Infrastructure, payments & email

Hosting and operational infrastructure process the information needed to run DNAObs. Stripe processes payments, while email services deliver account messages. Local purchase records are used to manage analysis access.

The website does not offer a choice of processing region. Contact support for current hosting locations, service-provider details, or questions about international transfers.

Cookies, browser storage & analytics

DNAObs uses cookies and browser storage for sign-in and the upload handoff. Website analytics and performance measurement may run when enabled, including Google Analytics and optional Vercel Analytics.

Website measurement is separate from DNA processing consent. Withdrawing that consent does not clear browser cookies. You can manage cookies and site storage in your browser; clearing them may sign you out or remove a pending upload.

Processing consent & other uses

The analysis flow asks for consent to process your DNA file on DNAObs servers and save educational reports in your account. The service stores your consent choice and its policy version.

Research participation, advertising use of genetic findings, and optional sharing are not part of that processing choice. The current ChatGPT connector provides public guides and availability information only.

Deletion, copies & support requests

Use the Reports library to delete individual reports. Account deletion in Settings requires an email verification code and removes account-owned records from the application.

Downloads you have made, provider records, and infrastructure copies have separate lifecycles. Contact support about those systems, data correction, access, transfer, or a privacy complaint. Support can also provide confirmed legal-operator and contact details.

A FEW USEFUL ANSWERS

Before you upload. Or whenever you need.

Does withdrawing consent delete my reports?

No. It blocks new analysis and cancels active geographic jobs. Reports that are already saved remain available until you delete the report or account. A running geographic task stops when its worker next checks its lease.

Is my report link public?

Saved report pages require sign-in and account authorization. Copying a report URL does not create a public share. If you download or send a report yourself, anyone receiving that copy may be able to read it.

Can I recover my original DNA file from an account export?

The account export includes saved analysis reports, account information, local purchase records, and consent history. It does not include temporary DNA upload bytes, credentials, or records held by the payment provider. Keep your original DNA export somewhere you control.

Does the ChatGPT connector access my genome?

The current DNAObs connector provides public guides and availability information. It does not receive private DNA files or saved reports. Opening a link to DNAObs still uses the website’s own sign-in and privacy controls.

Where can I ask about access, correction, or erasure?

Contact DNAObs support for account access, correction, transfer, retention details, infrastructure copies, or a privacy complaint. Please start with your account email and the nature of your request; do not attach raw DNA data to an initial support message.

Still have a question about your data?

Start a conversation with DNAObs support. Please keep raw DNA files out of your initial message.
